Educational Policy in the 21st Century: Opportunities, Challenges and Solutions
Without question, educational policy and its political manifestation has been a critical feature of public education throughout most of our U.S. history. Educators in K-12 and higher education as well as constituents outside of our formal education institutions often place educational policy front and center in their minds as this concerns: (1) How and why decisions are made about children and student achievement, (2) Education institutional performance and educator/administrator efficacy in K-12 and higher education – are we getting what we (as taxpayers) pay for? and (3) The value of public K-12 and higher education, as currently configured, given the growing importance of education in a global economy.
Educational Policy in the 21st Century: Opportunities, Challenges, and Solutions provides a research venue for scholars and educational practitioners to explore each of the concerns above particularly as this relates to the political reality of our highly charged educational arena. Public K-12 and higher education has garnered an increasing level of public passion that is not common in other sectors of our economy because so much is at stake - such as, the future of our children and their offspring; the individual quality of our lives on a day-to-day basis, and the future of our nation on the global stage.
