IAP BOOK SERIES
International Advances in Education: Global Initiatives for Equity and Social Justice
Our purpose as series editors is to provide an international research monograph series to identify, examine and share educational policies and practices that improve the academic and social success of disenfranchised groups around the globe. In organizing this seven volume series, we plan to select two to three editors per volume. We are seeking as editors leaders in various academic fields who possess outstanding knowledge and judgment regarding whom to invite to contribute individual book chapters.
Each of the seven volumes will be comprised of original work from distinguished authors found to be timely and pertinent to the theme at hand and consisting of:
Research: original innovative research, based on the systematic collection and analysis of data or facts which may involve the application or testing of educational theory,
Practice: exemplary practices and programs found in academic, community and workplace environments designed to enhance the development of skills, knowledge and operational effectiveness. These may be case studies, narratives or technical reports that involve putting theory and research into practice.
Theory: broad and generalizing theory that reflects and reports on, commentary and history compiled from the perspectives of both the dominant and non-dominant cultures. Topics will focus on the political, educational, social and organizational principles and directives that shape education for the 21st century.
Because our goal is to reach a global audience with this series, it is important that volume editors and chapter contributors be diverse as to country of origin, academic discipline and cultural background in relation to the themes of the individual volumes. We anticipate that at least 30 countries will be represented in the series. We are soliciting input from prominent scholars in Argentina, Australia, Bosnia, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, England, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Ireland, India, Israel, New Zealand, Pakistan, Russia, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, and the United States.
Contributing authors of book chapters will be drawn from an ethnically, racially and economically diverse pool of distinguished academicians, practitioners, researchers, community organizers and corporate managers working in different institutional environments and educational settings. Chapters can be case studies, ethnographic, qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed method research; depicted from the perspective of the dominant or non-dominant group; and focused on educational, political, or social policies, mandates and procedures that are designed to positively influence the success of disenfranchised groups throughout the globe.
