The Division of Education at the SUNY College at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track, Assistant Professor position starting August 2010. The College at Oneonta enrolls more than 5,800 students with 475 faculty and offers 69 undergraduate majors and 9 graduate programs. The student to faculty ratio is approximately 17:1. In the U.S. News rankings of "America's Best Colleges 2010," SUNY Oneonta received its highest ranking ever: 10th among public colleges and 45th overall among master's-granting universities in the North. The Elementary Education and Reading/Literacy faculty are committed to professional excellence in teaching and research. Duties: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses with focus on literacy assessment Birth to Grade 12 on two campuses; supervision of reading clinic; possible supervision of student teachers.
Required Qualifications: Appropriate doctorate (e.g., reading, literacy) (ABD will be considered. ABD must be completed within one year of appointment.); Teaching certificate and a minimum of 3 years teaching at elementary or secondary levels; Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues is also required.Preferred: Relevant college teaching experience and research record; Teaching experience with English language learners and diverse populations.
