Assistant Professor of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology
University of Alabama

The Department of Psychology at The University of Alabama has an opening for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology starting August 16, 2010, subject to availability of funding. We seek a clinical child psychologist conducting research on internalizing disorders (e.g., Anxiety or Depression) or those working with ADHD children or other areas of study that add to, and complement, the Child Clinical Program. The Clinical Child concentration has 4 faculty lines and two affiliated psychologists with current research interests in violence prevention, child and adolescent conduct problems, child forensic psychology, autism spectrum disorders, and school based mental health. A recently developed Center for the Prevention of Youth Behavior Problems and an interdisciplinary Developmental Science Program provide unique opportunities for collaboration.

Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching, research mentoring, and development of an independent research program with the potential to attract external funding. Applicants who have the ability and interest to teach graduate level statistics courses are especially encouraged to apply. The University of Alabama, founded in 1831, is the flagship campus of a three campus system. The University is located in Tuscaloosa, a city of 100,000 that was named an All America City by the National Civic League.

Job Requirements

Candidates should be graduates of an APA or CPA-accredited clinical psychology program, have completed an APA or CPA-accredited internship, should be eligible for Alabama licensure, and should be able to provide clinical supervision.
